It is nice to see that a game as old as LittleBigPlanet 2 is still being constantly updated to provide interesting new tools for avid creators playing on the platform. The cross controller pack is a new initiative by MediaMolecule which allows anyone to make a level in which the Vita is used as a controller and aid for the player who is playing the main level. Read on for our full thoughts on this new set of publishing tools…

Introduced to creators in this new set is the ability to use a Vita to assist the main player of the level on the PS3. In one of the story levels included, moving cylindrical items have been electrified and made invisible and the Vita player must move a scanner over the area to reveal the danger using their finger. A full set of tools to reproduce these levels and create ones of your own have been provided. New to the game are: the Vitanator (Vita controlinator), remote tag sensors (allows tag sensing remotely from Vita to PS3), tag radar (reproduces anything done to an object on the Vita to PS3 and vice-versa) and even teleportation!

Teleportation allows you to transfer the Sackboy on the PS3 to the Vita, transport from one part of a level to another or even hold a Sackboy in ‘stasis’ for a certain period of time, or until certain conditions are met. This tool, I believe, is the one which will offer the most new possibilities to creators, opening up a world of new inventions, level ideas and games. It is great to see this support by MediaMolecule – utilizing new technology available to them to improve their game via DLC, rather than releasing a new game with their Move and Cross-Controller packs added in for a much higher price.

The new costumes, stickers, decorations, tools, levels and, most importantly, POSSIBILITIES offered by this DLC make it a worthy purchase at its very affordable price, so, if you have a PS3, PS Vita and LittleBigPlanet 2, I certainly recommend you head online to the Playstation Store and purchase the LittleBigPlanet 2 Cross-Controller DLC pack!

NOTE: PS3, PS Vita and LBP2 required to use this DLC pack. LittleBigPlanet Vita is not required to use this pack, however, a free download of the costumes included in this pack are provided for LBP Vita when purchasing this pack. These costumes will also be available for LBP Karting at a later stage under the cross-costume DLC promise for LBP2, LBP Vita and LBP Karting.
