  • Super Mario Odyssey (Nintendo Switch) review

There are very few game series which have existed for more than three decades. There are even fewer which have managed to maintain enough popularity, originality and passion to have regular releases over that long period of time. Mario is one such series and with the release of Super Mario Odyssey, we see Nintendo have worked their magic once again.

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (Switch) review

We are back with a review for Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers on Nintendo Switch today! Most of you will be somewhat familiar with Street Fighter II in some capacity. Over the years since its release in 1992, it has been successfully re-released time and time again, proving that it still has what made it so popular back at the time of its release when it defined a genre itself.

GamerCon: Bringing a Con to the Masses

With plans to branch out into Portugal, Berlin and London, GamerCon and its founder Ferdi Roberts had huge aspirations. With adverts proudly boasting the amount of attendees to be upwards of 20,000 people, this was set to be Ireland’s biggest gaming convention yet. But when those 20,000 attendees showed up on the 18th & 19th […]

    GamerCon: A Con For Gamers

The great famine may have hit us hard back in the 1800’s, but now Ireland faces a new problem: a drought of decent cons to attend. Geeks across Ireland cried out in pain when Eirtakon closed its doors last year, concerned that their days of nerding-out in public spaces was to become a thing of […]

    The Last Guardian (PS4) review

The Last Guardian has had a development cycle that can only be described as unique. Since the game’s initial reveal at E3 2009, the loyal fans of Team ICO’s previous releases had waited patiently and had never given up hope that the game would eventually release, even after media surrounding the game went totally quiet. These fans were rewarded with the reintroduction of the game at E3 2015. Without their support, it is likely the game may have been shelved owning to the difficulties in development.

Battlefield 1 (PS4, Xbox One, PC) review

Battlefield 1 is DICE’s latest entry in the popular Battlefield series and marks a return to World War I, an era which we haven’t seen explored in the major first person shooters in quite some time. The decision to base the game around the time of WWI was a controversial one, with shooters seemingly going in the other direction in recent times. The big question is: did the game do the era any justice?

Faith Connors finally returns in Mirror’s Edge Catalyst which appears on the scene a whopping eight years after its predecessor. While Catalyst does a lot to improve upon the widely criticised faults of the original game it is spoiled by the fact that the game introduces a range of new problems of its own. Ultimately, these new faults serve quite a bit of damage to the experience offered by the game.

Yacht Club Games is a relatively new indie development studio who have come to life with the help of Kickstarter. Shovel Knight originally released on PC, 3DS and Wii U after an immensely successful Kickstarter campaign and the game has now made its way to the Playstation platforms. The game is a throwback to the 8-bit era of games, however, it does so in a way that feels fresh and truly nostalgic.
