Microsoft are going around in circles as they continue to do 180s on their previously announced Xbox One policies. One of the things which particularly bothered consumers is the fact the console would not function without the Kinect being attached and on. This opened the door for people to feel ‘watched’ by the Kinect while they game. Microsoft have reversed this decision.

The Xbox One still comes with the Kinect included, and Microsoft have confirmed that they currently have no plans to change this, however, it will not be required to be switched on to use the console. It is currently still unclear if the device can be plugged out of the console, as Microsoft have said that the Kinect can be disabled completely in the settings, but have not clarified if the user can remove the connection from the console without play being disrupted.
