Insomniac Games, creators of the Ratchet and Clank franchise today announced via Twitter that the highly-anticipated, long-awaited Ratchet and Clank HD Trilogy has been delayed in Europe. The game’s release date has been pushed back to June, closing some of the gap between the EU and NA release.

The game was announced almost a month ago, to be released in Europe on May 16th. Today, Insomniac Games announced via Twitter the game would not make the launch date and will be released in June:

“We’ve been informed the Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy has been pushed back a bit in Europe to early June. Will share more when we have date.”

The game is scheduled to release in Fall/Autumn in North America, due to a special surprise: “we have something very special planned for our North American fans to celebrate the 10th anniversary”.

However, this now reduces the gap slightly. What do you think the special surprise for North America could be ? One user asked: ” Odd that there is such a delay between the Eur and NA versions. I can see a month or two, but 5+? That seems strange. ” and got the reply “Again, the reason for this will be more clear when we reveal another component to the 10th Anniversary Celebration”.

European fans however, do not fret, it seems that this extra surprise in America will be available in Europe, possibly at a price: “Again, everything should be available to all. More details when we can share, it’ll all make sense”. James Stephenson explains on the US Blog.

It is clear the NA bonus is something related to preordering, as confirmed by James Stephenson: “You will definitely want to pre-order if you’re in North America :- )”.

So, all we can do is speculate for now. I am sure more will be revealed in due course…stick with us !
