Microsoft made a type of a “no-comment” comment on Sony’s acquisition of Gaikai which we reported earlier today. Microsoft responded by advertising their own Xbox Live service which.. isn’t really the same thing.

“The cloud has been a key component of our strategy and a big area of investment with Xbox for many years, through Xbox LIVE we’re serving up gaming and entertainment in the cloud to more than 40 million people.” a Microsoft spokesperson said to GI.

“We’re committed to delivering extraordinary entertainment experiences across devices in a uniquely connected way through Xbox, Windows Phone, Windows 8 and other popular devices, and we’re looking forward to continuing to innovate in this space in the future.” they continued.

So, what does this mean for the future? Is Sony going to reveal a big revolutionary console streaming service which will leave Microsoft cowering on it’s knees?… I don’t think so! I have a feeling Microsoft has begun negotiations with OnLive…
